Arromanches-les-Bains, an emblematic place to discover near our campsite

Just a few kilometers from La Roseraie d’Omaha, Arromanches-les-Bains is one of the most striking sites of the Normandy Landings. This small coastal village, nestled between the cliffs and the sea, boasts a unique historical heritage and a peaceful atmosphere.

A landmark of the 1944 landings

Arromanches is world-famous for having been one of the nerve centers of the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944. It was here that the Allies installed the famous Mulberry B artificial harbour, a logistical and technical feat designed to land men, vehicles and equipment in large numbers. Even today, the impressive remains of this floating port can be seen offshore, a silent but powerful testimony to history.

A must-see museum for young and old

To better understand the importance of Arromanches during the Second World War, a visit to the Musée du Débarquement is a must. Facing the sea, it retraces Operation Overlord through models, archive films and period objects. An educational and accessible place, ideal for families.

A seaside resort with discreet charm

In addition to its historic past, Arromanches also has a friendly atmosphere and unspoilt natural surroundings. Its sandy beach, small boutiques, restaurants and coastal paths make it a perfect stopover for half a day or more. A walk on the heights offers spectacular panoramic views over the bay, notably from the circular Arromanches 360 cinema, which immerses visitors in the intensity of the D-Day landings thanks to an immersive film projected onto nine screens.
